Notes for: Vallie Mae Bee

Visitors to Cabin Run Cemetery will notice that the gravestone of 3-year-old Vallie May Bee, daughter of Sherman Bee and great-great-granddaughter of the legendary Ephraim Bee, is in the middle of what is otherwise the Gaston family plot, with no other Bee graves in close proximity. When Sherman Bee moved with his family from Doddridge County to Ohio in the 1940s, he knew that they were unlikely to ever return, but he did not want the grave of his daughter, tragically killed in an automobile accident, to be neglected. So Sherman Bee transferred ownership of his Bee plot to the family of Ira Dow Gaston, with the understanding that the Gaston family would care for Vallie's grave.
