According to Hanna's "Ohio Valley Genealogies," p. 44, this John Gaston died unmarried. Researchers Peter J. Topoly and Jane Carson Topoly have reported that he married Sarah Jane Moore on Oct 1 1862 in Smith Ferry, Beaver Co, PA, but they also report a death date for him of Jul 22 1862 in Dubuque, Iowa, with burial in Linwild Cemetery in Dubuque.
