Notes for: Joseph Benjamin

Joseph Benjamin served in 1695 under Captain Gorum in the campaign against the Indians at Pemaquid, during which he was severely wounded. He was pensioned in 1700.

On Apr 4 1700, Josiah Loomis sold land to Joseph Benjamin, blacksmith of Sheffield, Massachusetts, lot #35 (Reg. of Deeds, Pittsfield, Mass., Bk 5, pp 74 & 549). On Dec 24 1700, Joseph & his son Joseph Jr owned land in Preston, Connecticut, but were not on the list of property owners in 1691.

The will of Joseph Benjamin was dated May 26 1732 and proved Jun 6 1738. It mentions sons Joseph, Obed, Jedediah, Daniel and Abial, and daughters Elizabeth Park, Sarah Park and Grace Wheeler. (Probate Rec, New London, Bk D, p. 328).
