Notes for: Denver Clay Boyd

BOYD, Denver Clay, 75, of Weirton, W.Va., passed away Friday, April 23, 2010, at home.

He was born March 15, 1935, in Doddridge County, W.Va., son of Annie Myrtle Thompson Boyd and Thomas Clay Boyd.

He was a member of Tri-State Church of God and a veteran of U.S. Army, a retired minister from The Church of God and also retired from the Sheet Mill of Weirton Steel with 35 years of service.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Howard, James and Carl Boyd.

Surviving are his wife, Violet Wade Boyd, whom he married on August 22, 1966 in Winchester, Va.; daughters, Vicki Hundley (Randall) of Little Rock, SC and Pam Sweat (fiance, Doak) of New Cumberland, W.Va.; sons, William Boyd and Brad Boyd (Donna) both of Salem, W.Va., Michael Sweat (Patricia) of Weirton and Charles Sweat of Steubenville, Ohio; brother, Kenneth Boyd (Linda) of Weirton; sisters, Mary Ann Rosnick of Arizona, Carleen SanFilippo (Joe), Dorothy Boyd and Irene Connell (Tom) all of Weirton; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grand children.

Friends received at Steel&Wolfe Funeral Home, Inc., 380 Penco Road, Weirton, from 1-5 p.m., where services will be held Monday, April 26, 2010, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. J.D. Wall and Pastor Jason Romine officiating.

Military Cemetery Service by American Legion Post No. 10 Honor Guard. Interment in Chestnut Ridge Cemetery.
