"Mssrs. Keister & Gray took charge of the Columbian Hotel on the first. The retiring landlady Mrs. Ash made everything perfectly satisfactory in the transfer. The new landlords are sure hustlers and look after the business end and after the interest of their guests to see that they are comfortable and well satisfied. Mrs. Mary Finnegan, of Pennsboro, who is the new caterer, is sure a fine cook and has received many compliments from all the guests."

"A regular session of the County Court was held in the Court House commencing July 19, present M. O. Young, B. F. Greathouse and P. M. Williams, Commissioners. ... License to keep hotel: Andrew Helmick at Center Point, L. G. Chapman at Grove, C. C. Wentz at Smithton, J. W. Keister and G. W. Gray in the New Columbia Hotel, West Union."
