Notes for: Lucille Bennett

She owned the West Virginian Restaurant in Clarksburg for 35 years. She had previously catered at the Gore Hotel and was a waitress at the Stonewall Jackson Hotel, finally opening her own restaurant in 1935. She and her husband owned the farm in Quiet Dell where they raised their own chickens and cattle for the restaurant; the farm later became the Bennett Manor Housing Development. After selling the restaurant, she traveled to over twenty countries, was a volunteer at the VA Hospital for 26 years, and was instrumental in starting the local Meals on Wheels.
