Notes for: William Cunningham
Served in Revolutionary War. Enlisted in Shenandoah County, Virginia in May 1780. Served seven months as a Private in the company under Captains Richardson, Higgins and Martin, and under Colonel Hetherson. Fought at Maches, Chester Gap and Yorktown. For a time, substituted for his father John Cunningham, and later was a substitute for his uncle, Thomas Cunningham. He was granted a pension in 1832.
