Notes for: Geneva Pauline Gaston
Graduate of Doddridge County High School (1945) and attended Salem College, Salem, WV, 1945-46. Worked for two years in the office of the Ford garage in West Union. Upon her marriage to Armand Brown in 1946, she moved to Youngstown, Ohio, where Armand's family had moved from West Union while he was overseas during World War II. From 1962 to 1974, she worked as cashier and office worker for A&P food stores in Youngstown and vicinity. In June 1974, with Armand's heart problems preventing him from continuing his job with A&P in Youngstown, they returned to Doddridge County, moving into the house on Oxford Road, at Cabin Run, where Geneva had lived with her family for about five years prior to her marriage. From then until his death in 1985, Armand and Geneva operated what had been her parents' small grocery store adjacent to the family home, changing the name from Gaston's Grocery to Brown's Grocery. With her brother Sam, Geneva was a driving force and principal compiler of this genealogy.
