(Note: Ida's husband William was enumerated in this census in McClellan District, along with his two children from a previous marriage.)

1920 Census, Doddridge Co, WV (West Union District, Town of West Union), enumerated on Jan 24 1920 at 102 Railroad Street:
Ida Benninger, 52, hotel proprietor, widowed; son Hadsel L, 11.
(Note: Ida's widowed status is incorrect. Her husband William was enumerated in this census in Pittsburgh, marital status divorced.)

1930 Census, Wood Co, WV (City of Parkersburg), enumerated on Apr 3 1930 at 619 Avery Street:
Ida Benninger, 63, occupation "none," divorced; son Hansel L, 21, occupation painting in insulate wire industry, single. The household had seven additional occupants identified as "roomers," with no apparent relationship to the Benningers or to each other. It is likely that Ida was operating an informal boarding house.

1940 Census, Wood Co, WV (City of Parkersburg), enumerated at 419 Ann Street:
Hadsal L. Benninger, 31, stationary fireman in rayon factory, 3 yrs high school; wife Juanita G, 27, bookkeeper in furniture store, 3 yrs college; mother Ida P, 73, widowed, 6 yrs schooling.
