Notes for: Pearley Emerson Langfitt
Local news item, "Doddridge County Republican," Thursday, Jan 4 1917, in its entirety:
"P. E. Langfitt had a very close call while cleaning out a gas well on the Stout farm near Lost Creek, Harrison Countu, last Friday evening. The well had been temporarily bridged with cavings, and when the pressure got too heavy for the bridge to hold, there was a quick puff of gas which caught from the derrick light and burned Mr. Langfitt's face, though not seriously. With him at the time were James McKain of the Acme Fishing Tool company, formerly well known in the Canton field, and three other men, James Willis, Del Bartel and Bryan VanHorn, all of whom escaped unhurt."
