    Notes
    • The spelling of this family's surname is found in various records as Seeders, Seders, Seaders, Cedars, and other variations. In our listings, we have stayed with the predominate spelling of Seeders, except in some cases where another spelling was adopted and consistently carried forward. Although his name appears in his military service records only as Jesse Seeders, the application for his military grave marker spelled his name Jessie Seders, which is how it appears on the marker.

Identified as Jesse Seeders, white male, marital status "Not reported," occupation invalid; died Jan 14 1889 at Hugal Run in Doddridge Co, age 80y 6m 29d, cause of death "Lung Fever and Asthma 'in my opinion,'" buried Jun 16 1889 at Oak Grove in Ritchie Co. Reported by Wm. Bond, coroner, no physician, undertaker F. P. Smith of Greenwood.
(NOTE: The reported age and death date calculate to a birth date of Jun 16 1808. Age 44 in 1850 Census puts birth in about 1806. Death date given in his military headstone application, filed in 1928 by his great-grandson Freddie Wade Elefritz, as Jan 13 1888, an apparent error. At the time of his military enlistment on Jul 28 1862, he understated his age as 44, birthplace Hampshire County.)
