In Aug 1874, the widowed Henry Heaton married Mary V. (Mills) Nutter, widow of William Elmore Nutter. Based on Henry's widowed status in the census, she died prior to 1880, although we have found no record of her death.

1900 Census, Harrison Co, WV (Eagle District), enumerated on Jun 21 1900:
Henry Heaton, 67, b. May 1833, farmer; dau E. M. Heaton, 35, b. Sep 1864, single; dau F. M. Nutter, 31, b. Aug 1868, married 3 yrs, no children; son-in-law Theodore Nutter, 30, b. Jan 1870, married 3 yrs, farm laborer. There were also five apparently unrelated lodgers in the household with surnames Lowman, Wolverton and Queen. [5]
