Identified as Eugenius Henry, single, farmer, 32, b. Monongalia Co, res. Harrison Co, son of Hiram & Nancy Henry; and Elizibeth Burnsides, single, 30, b. & res. in Harrison Co, dau of William & Margaret Burnsides. Married Oct 2 1856 in Harrison County, officiated by Isaac Hallam.
NOTE: On Aug 20 1843, application for a marriage license was made between Elizabeth Burnside and Henry T. Hallam, vouched for by Samuel Preston Fitz Randolph. On Aug 21 1843, a $150 bond was posted by Ephraim Bee as surety for the intended marriage between Henry T. Hallam and Elizabeth Burnside. But subsequent court documents show that Hallam reneged, that the marriage never occurred, and that Elizabeth Burnside sued Ephraim Bee for slanderous statements that led to Hallam's change of heart. Relationship, if any, between Henry T. Hallam and the Isaac Hallam who officiated the marriage between Elizabeth Burnside and Eugenius Henry is not known.
