    Birth date given in 1900 Census as Sep 1832, but nearly all other census records put his birth in about 1827. Findagrave.com reports it as Sep 18 1827, while age 85y 6m 15d in his death record caculates to a birth date of Jun 20 1829. His obituary gives his age as "about 90," which appears to be slightly overstated.

    BRANNON, Pinkard (M) changed his name to Brannon from Pinkard Bramham and Pinkard Napper, when he migrated in the 1850s with his wife Eliza Gibson from Louisa Co., VA to Gilmer/Doddridge Counties, WV. The Branham (Brannon) and Napper families were free colored people since the early 1700s in Virginia.

    NOTE 1: The unnamed male infant was son Henry, later known as Henry Brannon, whose birth date was consistently reported as 15 Aug 1850. His age thus would have been about 1 month rather than 11 months.
    NOTE 2: A nearby household was that of James & Mahala (unable to read/write) Knighton and their children. Also in the Knighton household was Mal. [Malachi] Bramham, 76, mulatto, laborer.
