       Household of Wilson Britton (#212 on the list): 1 white male btwn 26 and 44 yrs old; 1 white female btwn 10 and 15 yrs old; and 3 white females under 10 yrs old.

       He married 1806,[4] Jane Wade, b. ca 1787,4 (daughter of George Wade, Jr. and Nancy Ann Howard) d. bef Sep 1849 [Jane Wade Britton did not join in the deed made by Wilson Britton to George W. Britton on Sep 4 1949.  This deed was made on condition "that the said George W. Britton shall furnish all suitable victuals and clothing with every other convenience for the comfort of the aforesaid Wilson Britton in his old age during the balance of his natural life."].  Jane: Jane Wade was Wilson Britton's second wife.  He had raised a family with his first wife near Winchester, Virginia before moving to Monongalia County.  Three of his brothers reportedly crossed the mountains with him, but they did not settle in the same immediate vicinity.

"Polly" Husk, also known as Polly Husk,[9],[10] b. Mar-21-1821,[11] (daughter of Samuel Husk and Elizabeth ___) d. Dec-15-1869,[12] buried in Hart Cemetery, Taylor Drain Rd, Doddridge Co WV,12 census 1860 in Doddridge Co, (W)VA.  He married (2) Oct- 3-1872 in Doddridge Co, WV,[13],[14] Louisa Summers, b. ca 1831 in Monongalia Co, (W)VA,14 (daughter of Elijah W. Summers and Susanna Barnett) resided 1872 in Doddridge Co, WV.14

Jan-20-1895,12 buried in South Fork Bapt Church Cem, Oxford, Doddridge Co, WV,12 occupation farmer,[20] census 1860 in Doddridge Co, (W)VA.  Wilson: In his Last Will and Testament, Wilson Nutter named "M. S. Gaston" (almost certainly Morris Samuel Gaston) as the Executor of his estate.  The relationship between the two men is unknown.

3.    Nancy Ann2 Britton, also known as Ann Britton,9 (1.Wilson1) b. 1814 in Virginia,[21] d. Jan- 8-1879 in Doddridge Co, WV.17  She married9 Apr-5-1838 in Morristown, PA, Frederick Husk, b. Sep- 7-1815 in Monongalia Co, (W)VA,[22],[23] [1850 Census states birthplace as Pennsylvania.], (son of Samuel Husk and Elizabeth ___) d. Mar- 5-1893 in Doddridge Co, WV,[24],17 buried in Old family cem, Lick Run, New Milton, WV,[25] census 1860 in Doddridge Co, WV, census 1840, 1850 in Monongalia Co, (W)VA.  According to his great-grandson Brenton Leon Husk, Frederick Husk was born in Greene Co, PA in 1808.  He moved to Doddridge Co in 1836, and died at Blandville, Doddridge Co, in 1883.  Much of this is at variance with information obtained from other sources.  We consider it likely that Brenton Husk's information regarding this Frederick Husk was in error, and we provide it here with that caveat.

      

       1840 Census, Monongalia Co, (W)VA:

       Census reported Frederick Husk as the head of family, age 20-30, with the other household members being one female age 20-30 (presumably wife Nancy) and one female age 60-70 (possibly mother-in-law Jane Wade Britton).

      

       1860 Census, Doddridge Co, (W)VA:

       Frederick Husk, male, 44, born in Virginia, farmer; Nancy, female, 46; G. W., male, 17; L., male, 14; J. W., male, 12; Joseph W., male, 10; William, male, 6; M. E., female, 3.

                             ii.      George Washington Husk, b. ca 1843 in Monongalia Co, (W)VA,[26] d. Nov-17-1864 in Civil War,[27] buried in Beverly National Cemetery, Beverly, Burlington Co, NJ,27 census 1860 in Doddridge Co, WV, census 1850 in Monongalia Co, (W)VA.  Died in Confederate prison in Civil War, per various sources.  According to Brenton Leon Husk, George W. Husk belonged to Company A, 14th Infantry, and was taken prisoner at Cloyds Mountain, Virginia on May 9th, 1864.  Much of this information is confirmed in "Soldiers' Memorial," published April 1865 and cited in the Clarksburg Exponent-Telegram of Nov 24, 1999.

4.    Gustavus S.2 Britton, (1.Wilson1) b. ca 1819 in Monongalia Co, (W)VA,[30],[31],8 d. Mar-19-1904,30 occupation farmer.8  The 1850 Census of Doddridge County, (W)VA, listed his household as consisting of himself (identified as Gustavius Britton, age 31), his wife Elizabeth ( 22), and children Minerva (9), Elvian (4), Jarret (3) and John (2), all born in Virginia.

       The 1860 Census of Doddridge County listed his household as himself (identified as Gustavious Britton, farmer, age 41), his wife E. (22), and children M. (female, 20), C. A. (female, 15), Jarret (male, 14), John (male, 12), E. J. (female, 11), Albert (male, 5) and B. S. (male, 3), all born in Virginia.

       No entry was found for this family in the 1870 Census of Doddridge County. He married5 (1) Prudence Wade, (daughter of William Selby Wade and Prudie Wade) d. 1852.[32]  He married5 (2) ___ Wright.  He married (3) Mar-14-1847,30 Elizabeth Musgrave, b. Oct-27-1826,[33] (daughter of David B. Musgrave and Mary E. "Polly" Jones) d. 1909.30

8.    Sarah Emaline3 Britton, also known as Emaline Britton,14 census name E. Britton,8 (2.George2, 1.Wilson1) b. ca 1846 in Monongalia Co, (W)VA,18,45 [A family information survey completed by son John W. Hart in 1931 identified his mother as Miss Emaline Britton, born Mar 14 1850, died May 18 1890.  Those dates are at variance with information contained in her marriage and death records.], d. May- 4-1887 in Doddridge Co, WV.[61],17  She married Aug-30-1867 in Doddridge Co, WV,[62],[63] [Wes Cochran's "Doddridge County WV Marriages 1845-1937" gives marriage date as Oct 30 1867.], Andrew N. Hart, also known as Anda (Andy) Hart,14 b. Nov- 6-1846 in Doddridge Co, WV,[64] [Age 64y 7m 18d at death would put birth date at Nov 6 1846.  Also, age given at marriage in Aug 1867 was 20, and in Aug 1888 was 41, both of which would support a birth date in Nov 1846.  Other sources have given his birth date ranging from ca 1844 to ca 1849, to include the 1900 Census listing his birthdate as Sep 1847, and a family information survey completed by son John W. Hart in 1931 which reported the birth of Andew N. Nutter as Sep 6 1848 in Harrison Co.  His birth place was reported in his marriage record as Doddridge Co, but Harrison Co is considered more likely.], (son of John G. Hart and Melinda Ann Nutter) d. Jun-24-1911 in Summers, Doddridge Co, WV,[65],17 occupation farmer, census 1910 in Central District, Doddridge Co, WV.  Andrew: The 1870 Census lists Andrew N. & Emeline [sic] Hart as being 22 and 25 years old and having one child, Francis E. Hart.  Andrew & Emaline also had a child Frances in 1887.

      

       The 1900 Census of Doddridge County shows the household of Andrew N. Hart consisting of himself (b. Sep 1847), his wife of 28 years Sarah E. (b. Aug 1847), dau Denovas M. (b. Jan 1882), dau Etta W. (b. Mar 1893), and son Alaska (b. Sep 1896).  Wife Sarah was shown to have given birth to 8 children, of whom 6 were still living as of June 1900.

      

       1910 Census, Doddridge Co, WV (Central District), enumerated on Apr 20 1910:

       Andrew N. Hart, 63, b. W.Va., father b. Maryland, mother b. Ohio, farmer, married 21 yrs; wife Sarah E., 64, mother of 3 children (all still living); dau Etta W, 17; son Alaska S, 13.

      

       According to Doddridge Co Probate Records (Bk 2, p. 227), Sarah E. (i.e. Elizabeth, his 2nd wife) Hart was "appointed guardian of Alaska Hart & Etta Hart, orphans of Andrew N. Hart."
