Notes for: Malinda Willis

1850 Census, Doddridge Co, Virginia (now West Virginia), enumerated on Jul 24 1850:
Andrew Nutter, age 59, born in Virginia, occupation farmer; Malinda Nutter, 59, b. Virginia; Sarah Nutter, 17, b. Virginia; Elizabeth Nutter, 13, b. Virginia; Julia Warren, 25, b. Virginia; Willis N. Warren, 3, b. Ohio; Elizabeth Nutter, 93, b. South Carolina. All four of the adults in the household were indicated as being unable to read and write.
(NOTE: The surname for Willis Warren was originally entered as "Nutter," which was lined out and replaced with a ditto mark under "Warren" of the preceding line. The surname for Elizabeth, whose entry followed Willis's, was entered simply with a ditto mark directly under the lined out "Nutter." Although this gives the appearance of indicating Nutter as her surname rather than Warren, the intention of the enumerator is not clear. Since the resulting 1757 birth date differs significantly from the 1770 date reported by other researchers, this was presumably not Andrews's mother, Elizabeth Cottrell Nutter.)
