The spelling of this family's surname is found in various records as Seeders, Seders, Seaders, Cedars, and other variations. In our listings, we have stayed with the predominate spelling of Seeders, except in some cases where another spelling was adopted and consistently carried forward. Although his name appears in his military service records only as Jesse Seeders, the application for his military grave marker spelled his name Jessie Seders, which is how it appears on the marker.

1860 Census, Hampshire Co, Virginia (now West Virginia), enumerated on Oct 17 1860:
Amos Seders, 54, farm hand, value of real estate (blank), value of personal estate $30, cannot read/write; Elizabeth, 53; George W, 22, farm hand, cannot read/write; John T, 17; Susan J, 20; Mary E, 13; Peter Catlett, 59, cannot read write, idiotic. All born in Virginia.
NOTE: In the 1860 Census of Doddridge County, William Ceders, 12, was listed in the household of James & Lucinda (Clevenger) Dotson.
