Samuel T. Sherwood, 51, b. Pennsylvania (both parents b. Pa), farmer & gunsmith; wife Drusilla, 46, b. Pa. (father b. (blank), mother b. Pa.).
1900 Census, Doddridge Co, WV (New Milton District), enumerated on Jun 20 1900:
Samuel T. Sherwood, 71, b. Jul 1828 in Pa, farmer, married 47 yrs; wife Druzilla, 65, b. Aug 1834 in WVa, married 47 yrs, mother of 4 children (2 still living); granddau Ollie Givens, 23, b. Apr 1877 in WVa, married under 1 yr, no children.
In the 1910 Census, Drusilla (Bland) Sherwood was found in the household of her granddaughter & her husband, Olive "Ollie" & Ralph Givens and their children.
Local news item, "Doddridge County Republican," Thursday, Dec 14 1916, in its entirety:
"County Surveyor Freeman has recently partitioned the S. T. Sherwood farm on Meathouse Fork into three tracts. The farm contained 151 acres."
NOTE: We do not have a photograph of Samuel Todd Sherwood, who was nationally known and respected for the excellence of his gunmaking skills. His rifles are highly prized by gun collectors to this day. We ask for your help in locating a photograph of this significant figure in Doddridge County's history.
