John S. Jenkins, 29, b. May 1871 in Va, farmer, married 6 yrs; wife Matilda E, 32, b. Sep 1867 in WVa, married 6 yrs, mother of 3 children (all still living); dau Floyty M, 4, b. Sep 1895; son John C, 2, b. Jun 1897; dau Ida C (sic), 1, b. May 1899.

1910 Census, Doddridge Co, WV (Greenbrier District), enumerated in May 1910:
Sam Jenkins, 36, b. Va, farmer, married 16 yrs (1st marriage); wife Matilda E, 42, b. WVa, married 16 yrs (1st marriage), mother of 7 children (4 still living); dau Flota M, 14; son John C, 12; dau Ida S, 11; son Edward, 2.

On May 6, 1918, Dr. B. I. Hudkins performed surgery on Jenkins for appendicitis. He died the next day when "he jumped from his bed and died of shock" when the Big Isaac flood hit. The flood happened Tuesday, May 7, 1918.
