1900 Census, Doddridge Co, WV (Central District), enumerated Jun 22 1900:
John E. Waldo, 46, b. Sep 1853, farmer, married 20 yrs; wife Sarah, 41, b. May 1859, mother of 3 children (all still living); son Monta E, 18, b. Oct 1881; son Corless E, 16, b. Jan 1884; dau Edna P, 7, b. May 1893.
(Note: Basis for wife's name being entered as Sarah is unclear. She is known as Charity in all other references to her. We can only conluded that it was an error on the part of the enumerator.)
1910 Census, Doddridge Co, WV (Central District), enumerated on Apr 18 1910:
John E. Waldo, 56, farmer, married 30 yrs; wife Charity P, 52, mother of 3 children (all still living); son Montie E, 28, telephone lineman, single; son Carlia E, 26, telephone lineman, single; dau Edna P, 16, single; brother Sylvester B, 52, married 10 yrs.
Local news item, "West Union Herald," Thursday, Dec 9 1915, in its entirety:
"John E. Waldo of Leeson Run was in the city Monday on business. The largest oil well in the Leeson Run field has recently been struck on Mr. Waldo's farm. He is one of our best citizens, and we congratulate him on his good fortune. He has our thanks for a subscription to the Herald."
1920 Census, Doddridge Co, WV (Central District), enumerated on Jan 9 1920:
