Notes for: Elizabeth Pritchard
1850 Census, Harrison Co, Virginia (now West Virginia), enumerated on Aug 15 1850:
John C. Lowther, 46, physician; Elizabeth, 40; Evan, 16; Catharine, 13; Susan, 12; Columbia, 10; Ellen B, 7; India E, 2.
1860 Census, Harrison Co, (W)VA, city of Clarksburg:
Elizabeth Lowther, 48, seamstress; Susan A. Lowther, 21, schoolteacher; Mary C. Lowther, 19; Ellen B. Lowther, 16; India E. Lowther, 11; Daniel James, 27, druggist; George Earnest, 27, gunsmith; James J. Pritchard, 26; William Johnson, 22, cooper; Rebecca Cain, 25.
(Note: It is unclear who this Rebecca Cain (b. ca 1835) might be. Rebecca Lowther Cain (b. 1824), the first cousin once removed of Elizabeth Pritchard Lowther's husband, was enumerated in this census with her husband Edmund in Doddridge County. Regarding George Earnest, this is the George H. Ernest (1832-1905) who moved to Ohio, married Louisa Bevitt and is buried at Ferncliff Cemetery in Springfield, Ohio. It is likely, but not proven, that he was related to the noted gunsmith William H. Earnest (b. ca 1833) of Doddridge County who settled in Parkersburg.)
