Leonidas Shinn, 27, blacksmith, value of real estate (blank), value of personal estate $200; Francis R, 20, keeps house; Rebecca Roach, 79, cannot read/write; Albert Cottrill, 13, attended school within the year. All born in Virginia except Rebecca, born in Georgia.
The next enumerated household was that of Leonidas' widowed mother and her family:
Leah Shinn, 46, housekeeper; Charles, 19, blacksmith; Alice, 15; Elizabeth Riley, 8.
NOTE: Rebecca Roach, nee Frances Rebecca Hughes, was Leonidas' maternal grandmother, who had remarriad William Roach after her husband Samuel Childers' death. Her birthplace is reported by some researchers as Wilkes County, North Carolina, rather than Georgia.

1880 Census, Doddridge Co, WV (West Union District), enumerated on Jun 4 1880:
Leonidas Shinn, 38, blacksmith; wife Fannie R, 28; ward Mabel S. (?), 9, attended school within the year.

1900 Census, Washington Co, Ohio (City of Marietta), enumerated on Jun 9 1900 at 114 Pike Street:
Leoandias Shim, 57, b. May 1843 in WVa (both parents b. WVa), blacksmith, married 30 yrs; wife Franchas R, 48, b. Jun 1851 in WVa (both parents b. WVa), married 30 yrs, no children; nephew Robert Cottrill, 7, b. Nov 1892 in WVa (father b. Ohio, mother b. WVa), attending school.

1910 Census, City of Marietta, Ohio, enumerated on Apr 19 1910:
