Augustus F. Coffman, 28, b. Oct 1871, farmer, married 2 yrs; wife Flora S, 19, b. May 1881, married 2 yrs, mother of 1 child (still living); niece Jula Swiger, 11, b. Apr 1889.
NOTE: Flora's birth date is shown in her birth record to be Jun 25 1880. The whereabouts of daughter Grace, who was implied in this census and enumerated with the family in 1910, is not known.
1910 Census, Doddridge Co, WV (McClellan District), enumerated on May 5 1910:
Augustus F. Coffman, 38, farmer, married 12 yrs; wife Flora E, 29, married 12 yrs, mother of 5 children (3 still living); dau Gracie E, 11; son Otha G, 7; son Arlie E, 1y 3m.
1920 Census, Harrison Co, WV (Sardis District), enumerated on Feb 10 1920 in the Village of Wallace:
Augustus Coffman, 48, widowed, laborer for county roads; son Otha, 17; son Arlie, 11; son Ora, 7.
In 1921, following the 1919 death of his first wife, Flora Estella "Stella" Swiger, Augustus married another Stella, Estella Frances "Stella" Boggess, widow of William W. Collins. It appears, though, that they became separated or possibly divorced. Augustus's 1936 death record identified him as the widower of Stella Swiger, his first wife. His second wife's 1941 death record identified her as Stella Frances Collins, widow of both William Collins and Augustus Coffman. In the 1930 Census, Augustus's marital status was married, but his wife was not present, as she was enumerated elsewhere in Marion County, name listed as Stella Collins, marital status widowed. In 1940 she was enumerated in Clarksburg as head of household Stella Boggess, 62, widow, 4 yrs high school, resided 1935 in Weston (Lewis County).
1930 Census, Marion Co, WV (Grant District), enumerated on Apr 9 1930:
Augustus F. Coffman, 57, married, age 26 at time of first marriage, coal miner; son Ora E, 16, single; dau-in-law Stella Dovie, 22, married, age 17 at first marriage; nephew Junior Dovie, 4y 1m; nephew Harold Dovie, 2y 8m.
