Notes for: Freda Alice Davis
Identified in obituaries of E. Wilson Osborne and W. Frank Osborne as Mrs. Freda Haught of Akron, a surviving sister. But she was identified in obituary of Frank's sister Rella Osborne Snider as Mrs. Harry (Freda) Haught of Akron, a surviving foster sister, and she was identified in obituary of Annetta "Nettie" Cole Osburn as Mrs. Harry (Freda) Haught of Akron, a surviving foster daughter. It would thus appear that Freda, whose mother died in 1919 when Freda was just 4, was raised in the family of Jacob M. and Annetta "Nettie" Cole Osburn. She was listed in their household as a lodger in the 1920 Census. Relationship between the Davis/Britton and Osborne/Cole families, if any, is not known. Confusingly, the obituary of her foster sister, Mary Osborne Gaston, states that she was predeceased by "three sisters, Rella Snider, Freda Haught and Freda Osborne." No birth record for Freda Davis was found in Doddridge County.
