Notes for: Ruth Underwood

Ruth Wright, 89, of Shirley, departed this life Saturday, December 4, 2004, at her residence.

She was born August 16, 1915, in Shirley, the daughter of the late Lonnie and Clara Drain Underwood.

Ruth was a retired employee of the Tyler County Board of Education, where she was a teacher's aide for 30-plus years. She was a member of the Shirley United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Wright, in 2001, and by three brothers, Edgar, Kenneth and Jimmie Underwood.

She is survived by three daughters, Mary Catherine Stubbs and her husband Leo, Shirley, Nelda Stubbs and her husband Howard, Shirley, and Diane Cunningham and her husband Tom, Middlebourne; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at Furbee Funeral Home, Tyler City, Monday 2-9 p.m., where services will be held Tuesday 1 p.m., with Rev. Donald Thomas and Rev. Paul Flannigan officiating. Interment Shirley Cemetery, Shirley.
