Notes for: George Washington Squires
Local news item, "Doddridge County Republican," Thursday, Feb 17 1916, in its entirety:
"Through train No. 55 had a close call just west of No. 6 tunnel last Saturday night when a great boulder rolled down on the track a short time ahead of her. Watchman Geo. W. Squires got back in the tunnel in time to place a torpedo and save her from serious injury. As it was, she hit with sufficient force to damage the pilot pretty badly, and something like an hour was lost dragging the great rock off the track."
