Notes for: William Bee

In the 1860 Census of Doddrige County, William Bee Sherwood,16, was listed in the household of John and Eleanor Sherwood. This was actually William Bee, who had taken up residence with the family of his father's first cousin Eleanor Bee Sherwood.

William Bee, 26, farmer; Mary E, 23; Harvey, 3; John, 1.

1880 Census, Doddridge Co, WV (Central District), enumerated on Jun 4 1880:
Wm. W. Bee, 36, railroad worker; wife Mary E, 34; son Harvy, 13; son John, 11; dau Caroline, 9; son Herman, 7; son William, 3.

1900 Census, Braxton Co, WV (Salt Lick District), enumerated on Jun 22 1900:
William M. Bee, 59, b. May 1840, railroad laborer, married 34 yrs; wife Mary, 54, b. Apr 1846, mother of 5 children (all still living); son Herman B, 25, b. Jan 1875, coal miner, single; son William J (Jr ?), 23, b. Nov 1876, day laborer, single.
(Note: The elder William's 1840 birth date is at variance with all other records, which put his birth in 1844. Mary's Apr 1846 birth date varies from the Jan 4 1846 in her death record.)

1910 Census, Braxton Co, WV (Holly District), enumerated on Apr 23 1910:
William Bee, 65, occupation "own income," married 43 yrs; wife Mary E, 63, mother of 5 children (all still living); grand-dau Mary, 18, single; grandson Edward E, 4.
