Notes for: Enos Bee

Based on census records, Enos Bee was born as early as 1825 or as late as 1833. Based on marriage records, he was born as early as 1827 or as late as 1832. The 1827 date is considered most likely, as it is found in the earliest census return and in his first two marriage records.

1860 Census, Doddridge Co, Virginia (now West Virginia), enumerated on Jun 5 1860:
Enos Bee, 33, farmer; Martha, 55; F Y (female), 7; E A (female), 5; Hannah, 35; Maria, 30. All born in Virginia.
(Note: It appears that Enos' wife Elizabeth had already died, as the adult women of the household consisted of his mother, sister and half-sister.)

1870 Census, Doddridge Co, WV (New Milton Twp), enumerated on Aug 6 1870:
Enos Bee, 35 (sic), farmer; Hannah Bee, 38; Elizabeth A. Bee, 15.

(Note: Relationships were not indicated in these two censuses. Despite the age discrepancies, Hannah and Maria are believed to be Enos' sisters.)

1880 Census, Doddridge Co, WV (New Milton District), enumerated on Jun 5 1880:
Enos Bee, 55, farmer, b. W.Va, father b. N.J., mother b. Va; wife Martha, 58, b. Pa, both parents b. Pa.

1900 Census, Doddridge Co, WV (New Milton District), enumerated on Jun 18 1900:
Enos Bee, 67, b. Mar 1833 in W.Va, farmer, married 47 yrs; wife Martha, 70, b. Nov 1829 in Pa, both parents b. Pa, married 47 yrs, mother of 8 children (7 still living).
