Notes for: Robert Gaston

Resided at Lynch's Creek, Lancaster County, SC. Lived previously in Pennsylvania after his emigration to America. Some of his descendants moved to Illinois. Performed patriotic service during the Revolutionary War by supplying beef and a horse for the American cause. Regarding the children of Robert and Margaret Gaston, Burgess' "The Gaston Genealogy," p. 87, makes no mention of Stephen, and provides Thomas only as an unconfirmed possibility. But other sources, particularly Mary Gaston Gee, provide strong confirmation of Thomas Gaston and also include Stephen. Hanna, without identifying a wife, lists only six children for this Robert Gaston, making no mention of either Thomas or Stephen.
