After returning from working two years in the oil fields near Ranger, Texas, he moved to Harrisville WV and bought a partnership with his brother-in-law, Tracy Law, in the Dodge garage. After one year, John bought the business and operated it for 35 years. John then served four years as Sheriff of Ritchie County.
