Notes for: Polly Jett
Polly Jett was from one of the oldest and best families of old Culpeper. She was (and her family for generation had been) large slave-holders, coming from Westmoreland County, Virginia, to Culpeper prior to the Revolutionary War. She was a descendant of James Stark Jett and James Jett, of Westmoreland County, and of Burket or William Jett, of Culpeper. The Jetts were French Huguenots, and the name was originally spelled Jette.
