Notes for: Edith Hedge

From 1936 to 1939, she was the Recreation Director for Ritchie County, under the National Youth Administration. She also organized the first two Girl Scout troops in Ritchie County, one in Smithville and the other in Harrisville. Upon obtaining her college degree in 1941, "she taught her first two years in one-room schools in Ritchie County, where she could walk home for the weekends. Then in 1943, Edith took a position teaching first grade in Harrisville, where she taught for 17 years. She and [husband] Wilson came to Ohio in 1960 where she continued teaching in Tuscarawas and Stark counties."
