Notes for: George Winters "Wint" Hill
Educated in Pocahontas Co, WV and the Mountain State Business College of Parkersburg, he taught school in Pocahontas Co for six years, later moving to West Union where he was employed by the former Doddridge County Bank as a teller. In 1934 he became an employee of the First National Bank of West Union, serving as an assistant cashier. In 1935 he bacame a director, and in 1949 was promoted to cashier. (At that time, he also resigned his position as deputy county sheriff, per West Union Herald of Dec 8 1949) In 1957 he was elected as vice president, and he became president and chairman of the board of directors in 1965. He served in the capacity of president of First National Bank until his retirement on Jul 27 1989, with 55 years of service. He also owned and operated the Greenwood Motel and was a farmer and stockman. He was survived by his second wife, one son, John A. Hill of Sterling VA, and two daughters, Mary H. Frame of West Union, and Esther Ann MacCready of Los Angeles.
