Notes for: Mary Jane Minnis

Resident of Greenwood, Doddridge Co, WV. She was a graduate of the University of Michigan School of Public Health and received her Registered Nurse certification from Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, OH. She worked in the Akron-Canton, OH area as a public health nurse before coming to West Virginia in 1940 as an employee of the West Virginia Dept of Health, stationed in Doddridge County as a public health nurse. She entered the Army Air Corps and seved as a flight nurse during World War II. She returned to Doddridge County after the war to become a public health nurse and later a school nurse for the Doddridge County Board of Education, retiring in 1964. After retirement, she worked as a Registered Nurse at Britton Rest Home in West Union, and became active in the development of the Doddridge County Medical Center.
