"Thomas Boyce, of New Milton, was in town Tuesday. He is agent for the Consumers Monument Company. He claims he can do cheaper and better work than any other man, and requests those in need of monuments to let him know their wants."
Printed in the "Doddridge County Republican," Thursday, January 7 1915:
"I am very thankful for my kind friends and neighbors for the generous donation and presents which they recently bestowed upon me and my six orphan children -- as well as their words of good cheer and encouragement. It makes me feel more like living and striving for those dependent upon me. I am glad that I live in New Milton, and may God bless her good people and make their New Year a prosperous and happy one.

"Prosecuting Attorney A. F. McCue was called to New Milton district Tuesday to conduct a hearing before a justice in which T. J. Boyce was charged with improper conduct toward a girl who made her home with Sherd Burbridge. Boyce was fined and the girl was sent to the industrial home to be trained into a useful life if practicable."
