Spelling "Shaefer" used in obituary for himself and other family members, although "Shafer" is the only spelling found in other references to his family. Among others, survived by one son, Timothy Basham of St. Albans, WV, and "a lifetime companion Beverly Moore of Tucson, Arizona."
