Notes for: Guy Ross Ireland
Resident of White Oak community, near Pullman, Ritchie Co, WV. Retired in 1977 as statistician for the Quality Control Engineering Department of Union Carbide Corporation of Clarksburg, with 34 years of service. Graduated from Pullman High School in 1932, then attended Fairmont State College, earning an A.B. degree in 1935. He later attended Bowling Green State University in Kentucky, receiving a degree in accounting in 1940. He also taught school in Ritchie County at Pullman High School from 1935 to 1939 and later at Cairo High School in Ritchie County. Later in his career, he became president of the Ritchie County Board of Education. He entered the U.S. Army on Aug 5 1943. He participated in two invasions during his military service, Anzio, Italy, and southern France, both in 1944. After Germany's surrender, he was assigned to the Information and Education element in Rome, Italy. He was discharged on Dec 2 1945.
