Notes for: Charter Dale Stinespring
Resident of Greenwood, Deep Valley community, Doddridge Co, WV. He was a graduate of West Union High School and attended Tri-State Engineering College in Angola, IN. He was formerly a millwright with the Dupont Company and had also owned and operated the former Farmers Exchange store in West Union. He was also an active farmer and stockman and was affiliated with the Doddridge County Agriculture Extension Service. He was an overseas Army veteran of World War II, serving with the Office of Strategic Services, a forerunner of the CIA. As a paratrooper, he participated in freeing American servicemen from POW camps. He served two terms as Doddridge County Sheriff and was a state probation officer from 1969 to 1985. He was Chairman of the Doddridge County Republican Executive Committee from 1968 to 1978 and received a West Virginia Distinguished Citizen Award from Governer Arch Moore in 1970. He was also an independent oil and gas producer associated with Trio Oil and Gas Company, and was a director of First National Bank of West Union.
