Notes for: Birdie Ann Lamp
Name listed in daughter Esta Whitehair's obituary and son Wayne's obituary as "Birdie," but in daughter Mary Cross's obituary as "Virdie" and in son Clarence's obit as "Bertie." Researcher and great-grandson Walter A. Dotson reports his belief that Birdie was a nickname and that her real name was Vera Ann Lamp, citing the 1900 Census for Tyler Co, WV, in which she was identified as Vera (or Verd) A., wife of William A. Stull and mother of Alma M. Stull. Upon questioning two of her surviving children, Earl Stull and Ora Stull Spicer, Mr. Dotson was informed that their mother had always gone by Birdie and that they did not know her by any other name. She is identified in her marriage license as Birdie A. Stull, and her headstone is inscribed Birdie Ann Stull.
