Notes for: Agnes ___

Some researchers identify Agnes as possibly the daughter of Phillip of Navarre, and it is also said that she was accused of witchcraft in 1650 [per "Surnames of Scotland" by George F. Black]. But other researchers have convincingly refuted those assertions, and have further cast doubt that the wife of Jean Gaston was named Agnes at all. Although we side more with the skeptics, we nonetheless report Jean Gaston's wife as Agnes simply out of tradition.
