Served in War of 1812, enlisting on Sep 4 1812 and serving in Capt. John Patton's Company and Col. Dudley Evans Regiment of the Virginia Militia. He was discharged at Fort Meigs, Ohio on Mar 28 1813. He received 187 acres of bounty land near Tygart Valley in what is now Taylor Co, WV.
